Las Vegas, Nevada — Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe is facing serious allegations in a lawsuit filed by a woman using the pseudonym “Jane Doe.” The civil complaint, lodged in a Nevada state court on Sunday, accuses Sharpe of assault, sexual assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, seeking a minimum of $50 million in damages.

The plaintiff asserts that her relationship with Sharpe, which lasted nearly two years, began consensually but turned abusive. According to the complaint, Sharpe recorded their intimate encounters without her consent and later shared the footage with others.

One particularly distressing incident described in the lawsuit occurred when Sharpe allegedly livestreamed a sexual encounter with another woman. This incident reportedly influenced the plaintiff to distance herself from him. Following this separation, she claims Sharpe relentlessly pursued her, leading to confrontations in October 2024 that culminated in alleged sexual assault.

In January 2025, the complaint asserts that Sharpe ignored the plaintiff’s pleas to either stop or use protection during sexual intercourse, resulting in unprotected encounters. The outlined grievances highlight not only physical allegations but also emotional manipulation, wherein the plaintiff claims Sharpe used his celebrity status to undermine her ability to refuse.

The text of the lawsuit includes a striking statement emphasizing consent: “A woman can say ‘yes’ to consensual sexual relations with a man ninety-nine times, but when she says ‘no’ even once, that ‘no’ means no.”

The legal representation for the plaintiff includes attorneys Micah Nash and Tony Buzbee, the latter known for representing multiple plaintiffs alleging sexual misconduct against former NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson.

As this lawsuit unfolds, it raises broader questions about the accountability of celebrities in cases of alleged abuse and manipulation. The outcome remains uncertain, with Sharpe entitled to present his defenses as the case progresses through the courts.

Sharpe, who has gained popularity as a media personality post-retirement, has yet to publicly comment on the allegations. However, the legal battle is expected to attract significant media attention and could have lasting repercussions on his career and reputation.
