Shayanna Jenkins, the former fiance of the late New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, expressed her disappointment following the numerous jokes made about him during Tom Brady‘s roast on Netflix.

Jenkins, who shares a daughter with Hernandez, conveyed her sadness about the insensitivity towards her deceased fiance and the impact it has on her children.

During the star-studded event which included appearances by Brady, comedian Nikki Glaser, and others, Hernandez was the subject of several jokes, with his troubled past becoming the main target of the comedians’ jabs.

Jenkins, who is now raising her 11-year-old daughter, felt that the jokes crossed a line, especially since her daughter looks up to her late father as a hero.

Despite Aaron Hernandez’s tragic end, the roast spared no punches in making light of his life and struggles, even as Jenkins continues to cope with the aftermath of his passing.

Nikki Glaser, a prominent comedian in the lineup, made a controversial joke referencing Hernandez and a “ring around his neck,” further adding to the discomfort felt by Hernandez’s loved ones.

While some of the jokes drew gasps from the audience, others found humor in the dark humor surrounding Hernandez’s troubled past, including his former teammates from the New England Patriots.

The roast, which even included quips from Tom Brady himself about Hernandez, sparked mixed reactions from the public and raised questions about the boundaries of comedic material when it comes to such sensitive subjects.

Although some topics, like Hernandez’s children, were off-limits during the roast, it seems the line between humor and insensitivity was blurred for some as the event unfolded.
