Stellar Blade Video Game Release

SEOUL, South Korea — Video game developer Shift Up has reported a record-breaking financial year, largely driven by the success of its flagship title, Stellar Blade. The game generated $43 million in royalties, positioning the PC version to potentially surpass initial sales of the PlayStation 5 release.

In its 2024 financial report, Shift Up announced total revenue of $151.4 million, marking a substantial 30.4% increase from the previous year. The impressive figures reflect a growing player base and sustained interest in Stellar Blade, which commands a significant share of the developer’s revenue.

The financial achievements come as Shift Up prepares to unveil its next project, dubbed Project Witches, in the first half of 2025. However, it is important to note that Project Witches is not linked to the highly anticipated sequel of Stellar Blade, which fans have been eagerly requesting since the game’s initial success.

Stellar Blade allows players to step into the shoes of Eve, who battles various invaders to reclaim Earth through an engaging and fast-paced action role-playing game combat system. Despite its popularity, critiques have surfaced concerning aspects of the game’s narrative and character development. A review from IGN pointed out that while “Stellar Blade is great in all of the most important ways for an action game,” it suffers from “dull characters” and “a lackluster story.” Such criticisms highlight the challenges the game faces in cementing its place among genre leaders.

Shift Up’s upward trajectory in revenue indicates a healthy ecosystem for their creations. The financial growth, combined with an eagerness from fans for further content, positions the company well for the upcoming year and its future game releases.
