Shining Revelry Expansion Set for Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches March 27

REDMOND, Wash. — The Pokémon Company International announced the release of the highly anticipated expansion set for Pokémon TCG Pocket, titled “Shining Revelry,” set to debut on March 27, 2025, at 11:00 p.m. PDT. This expansion will feature 110 new cards, including various Shiny Pokémon and characters from the Paldea region, inviting players to delve into fresh collecting and battling experiences.

Among the highlights of the “Shining Revelry” set are unique Shiny Pokémon variant cards, such as Beedrill, Varoom, Charizard, Wugtrio, Pachirisu, and Lucario. This expansion not only marks the inclusion of fan-favorite Pokémon in their Shiny forms but also introduces Pokémon Ex cards, enhancing the strategic elements of gameplay.

The new Charizard Ex card, for instance, presents a more energy-efficient move, allowing players to enhance their attack potential considerably. With just one Fire energy, the new “Stoke” move can add three additional Fire energies, making for a powerful 150 damage dealt in three turns — a crucial advantage in the heat of battle.

In addition to new cards, the expansion will introduce an immersive animated card format, aimed at enhancing players’ visual experiences during gameplay. The Paldean region Pokémon included in this set will also introduce notable characters like Iono, promising to expand the lore and gameplay dynamics within Pokémon TCG Pocket.

Starting April 1, collectors can also access exclusive Shiny Charizard-themed items such as display boards and binders in the in-game shop. This expansion aims to make card collecting not only engaging but also visually appealing through these exclusive offerings.

In a noteworthy addition, the expansion brings the launch of ranked matches, allowing players to gauge their skills against others. The first ranked season will span from March 27 to April 26, wherein players can earn emblems based on their season-end ranks.

Historically, Shiny Pokémon have been a significant aspect of the Pokémon trading card game, first introduced in the Generation II base set Neo Destiny. Since then, expansions like Hidden Fates, Shining Fates, and Paldean Fates have included numerous Shiny variants, further fueling collectors’ enthusiasm.
