Shroud Raises $260K for St. Jude in Annual Fragathon Charity Event
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Popular streamer Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek has raised over $260,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through his annual Fragathon charity event, which kicked off at the beginning of January. The month-long fundraiser, now in its third year, combines gaming, community engagement, and high-value giveaways to support the cause.
Shroud, known for his expertise in tactical shooters, has been streaming daily throughout January, encouraging fans to donate through Twitch subscriptions, virtual currency (bits), and direct contributions. The event holds personal significance for the streamer, whose father passed away from lung cancer two years ago. “This is my way of giving back and honoring his memory,” Shroud said during a recent broadcast.
On Jan. 31, Shroud will host an eight-hour live stream in collaboration with BOXED.GG, a platform specializing in collectible card unboxing. During the event, he will open rare Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering card packs, with the value increasing as the stream progresses. BOXED.GG, which launched in 2023, has seen explosive growth, boasting over 200,000 registered users and more than 30 million boxes opened since its inception.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Shroud for such a meaningful cause,” said a BOXED.GG spokesperson. “This event not only highlights the growing intersection of gaming and collectibles but also demonstrates the power of community-driven initiatives.”
In addition to the Fragathon, BOXED.GG announced a new partnership with Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), a leading card verification service. While financial details remain undisclosed, the collaboration aims to enhance the authenticity and value of collectible cards traded on the platform.
Shroud’s Fragathon has become a staple in the gaming community, drawing attention to both his philanthropic efforts and the evolving landscape of esports and content creation. As of this writing, the event has surpassed its initial fundraising goal, with donations continuing to pour in.
