Silent Hill f: A Terrifying Journey to 1960s Japan Unveiled

LOS ANGELES, March 14, 2025 — Konami has unveiled new details about its highly anticipated horror game, Silent Hill f, during the latest Silent Hill Transmission. Set in 1960s Japan, the game promises to immerse players in a gorgeously terrifying world, placing them in the shoes of teenager Shimizu Hinako as she navigates her transformed hometown of Ebisugaoka.
Initially announced in 2022, Silent Hill f has garnered excitement from fans, who have eagerly awaited fresh information. In this iteration, players will explore a chilling narrative that invites them to discover the beauty hidden within terror, as described by Konami. Shimizu’s life takes a dark turn when a mysterious fog envelops her town, precipitating a series of horrific changes that challenge her understanding of reality.
The official game description states, “Shimizu Hinako was living her life as an ordinary teenager, until her town is suddenly shrouded in fog and begins to change in a horrific way.” Players will face various puzzles and strange foes in their quest for survival, culminating in a critical decision that defines the game’s thematic core.
Silent Hill f features a narrative crafted by Ryukishi07, renowned for his work on the Higurashi and Umineko visual novel series. This original story is designed to be accessible to newcomers while peppered with Easter eggs for longtime fans of the franchise.
In a statement about the game’s unique setting, character designer Kera emphasized the intention to blend familiar elements of the Silent Hill series with a fresh perspective rooted in its Japanese context. “I had to really think about how to get that feeling… The monster designs were the hardest,” Kera expressed. “It might not be the exact same blood-smeared, rusting scenery, but I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy our vision.”
Music plays a significant role in creating the game’s atmosphere, with long-time Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka teaming up with Kensuke Inage to score the experience. “I have composed music for an unsettling yet beautiful world that uses imagery from shrines,” Inage shared. His work aims to resonate with players, connecting them to Hinako’s emotional turmoil as they navigate her haunting journey.
While a release date for Silent Hill f has yet to be announced, it has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Anticipation continues to build as fans await additional news, with future broadcasts expected to provide more insights into the game’s development.
As part of the ongoing excitement surrounding the Silent Hill franchise, Konami recently announced another Silent Hill Transmission, scheduled for March 13, where further details about Silent Hill f are expected to be disclosed.
With its unique blend of psychological horror set against the backdrop of 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f looks to revive and expand upon the legacy of the Silent Hill series, capturing both new and veteran players.
