SINGAPORE – Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced plans to enhance its cabin crew employment offerings during a press briefing on February 11, 2025. With over 7,000 cabin crew members worldwide, SIA’s strategy focuses on providing exceptional service to maintain its reputation as one of the world’s best airlines.

The airline operates a fleet of 147 aircraft to 76 destinations across Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. Its diverse team of flight attendants allows the carrier to present personalized services, a key differentiator in an intensively competitive market.

Amidst ongoing recruitment, SIA revealed competitive salary levels for its cabin crew, with monthly earnings ranging from SG$2,000 to SG$5,000 (approximately US$1,500 to US$3,700). Those assigned to long-haul flights to destinations like Australia, Europe, and the United States could earn up to SG$75,000 annually (approximately US$55,600). The airline adjusts salaries based on factors such as experience, seniority, and flying hours.

Additionally, SIA provides a comprehensive benefits package for its crew, enhancing their employment experience. This includes allowances based on travel duration, full coverage for transport to and from airports, and incentives for those working on the same aircraft for extended periods.

Cabin crew members, along with their families, enjoy discounted flight tickets across SIA’s network and are entitled to one complimentary round-trip economy class ticket per year. They also undergo a four-month training program at the airlines’ expense, covering crucial areas like customer service and aircraft safety protocols.

Medical insurance is another feature of SIA’s employment package, providing global coverage for any health-related expenses incurred during their service.

To maintain high standards and performance, Singapore Airlines encourages its crew to participate in additional training programs leading to qualifications for various roles within the airline.

For potential cabin crew applicants, the hiring process consists of four key steps: application submission via the airline’s careers portal, an interview, a comprehensive assessment including background checks, and finally an official offer contingent on passing training programs.

SIA primarily hires crew from numerous nationalities, ensuring that they are based in Singapore, the airline’s operational hub at Changi Airport. Crew assignments can vary between short-haul and long-haul international routes.
