Singer Cynthia Morgan Arrested for Cyberstalking Benin Crown Prince
Popular Nigerian singer, Cynthia Morgan, has been reportedly arrested by the Edo State Police Command for cyberstalking the Benin Crown Prince, Ezelekhae Ewuare.
The arrest followed allegations that Morgan had been engaging in cyberstalking activities against Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare since 2020, making claims that he appeared in her dreams.
The news of Morgan’s arrest was shared in a social media post by an Edo-based blogger known as @Edopride, who posted a video showing the singer being apprehended and escorted into a vehicle from her residence.
According to the post, a petition was submitted by Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare to the Edo State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, titled, ‘Defamation, cyberstalking and harassment of Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare by Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan,’ dated May 4, 2024.
The petition detailed allegations against Morgan, accusing her of attempting to contact the prince against his wishes, trailing him physically to his workplace, and publishing defamatory statements about him on her Instagram account and various online platforms.
As per the petition, despite warnings from legal representatives to cease her actions, Morgan continued to harass and stalk Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare online, prompting the prince to seek intervention to protect his privacy and well-being.
The Edo State Police Command, led by Commissioner CP Funsho Adegboye, took action following the petition, leading to Morgan’s arrest on Monday.
