Singer and TV presenter Jane McDonald, best known for her travel shows and singing career, recently opened up about her personal struggles in a candid interview. Despite her successful career, McDonald has faced her fair share of challenges, including heartbreak and loss.

McDonald, who hails from Wakefield, Yorkshire, has had a tumultuous love life, with her first marriage lasting only a year before she remarried Henrik Brixen, whom she met while filming the BBC series ‘The Cruise’. Although their marriage was featured on the show, it ended in divorce after four years.

In a heartfelt interview with the Mirror in 2018, McDonald revealed that Brixen had made sacrifices for her career, ultimately deciding to leave the marriage to ensure her success in the entertainment industry.

After her divorce, McDonald found love again with Eddie Rothe, a former drummer of the 1960s band The Searchers. Their relationship brought happiness, but tragedy struck when Rothe was diagnosed with lung cancer. He passed away in March 2021 at The Wakefield Hospice, where he spent his final days.

Aside from her personal challenges, McDonald has also undergone a remarkable transformation in her lifestyle, shedding two and a half stone after participating in ITV‘s Sugar Free Farm in 2017. Through a complete overhaul of her diet, McDonald managed to lose three dress sizes and has since maintained a healthy weight.

In her journey towards a healthier lifestyle, McDonald emphasized the importance of a change in mindset, shifting from living to eat to eating to live. She credited her increased energy levels and overall well-being to this shift in perspective.

Despite the ups and downs in her personal life, McDonald remains a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, captivating audiences with her travel shows and music. Her resilience and openness about her challenges continue to inspire fans around the world.
