Sir David Attenborough was positively beaming as he joined David Beckham in the royal box at Wimbledon, creating an adorable moment that melted hearts. The 98-year-old broadcaster and naturalist was seen with his daughter Susan Attenborough as they arrived at the iconic venue in time for the first-round match between Renata Zarazua and Dan Evans.

Dressed in a sharp navy suit and patterned tie, Sir David was smiling as he took his seat, with the entire crowd rising to their feet, cheering for him. The dapper TV icon was also greeted by David Beckham, with Sir David noticeably blushing while basking in the love from the crowd.

In contrast, Beckham sported a tan suit with a purple pocket square, looking suitably dashing for the occasion. The two Davids – now, there’s a double act – were leading the way in the star-studded royal box, while the former Manchester United star was joined by his mother Sandra.

Sir David’s ties to Wimbledon go back much further than most people realize, as he’s even the reason tennis balls are yellow. In the late 1960s, he worked for the BBC as a controller tasked with bringing color to TVs across the UK, and it was during a tennis match that the idea of yellow tennis balls, which look better on color TV, was born.

TV royalty were also in attendance, with This Morning and Great British Bake Off favorite Alison Hammond stepping out in a black and white polka dot dress and a white straw hat to shade her from the sun. Iconic broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald was seen out and about at the starry event while actor Rex Shephard was also spotted in the stands.
