Six Arrested In Connection With Rapper Aka's Murder In Durban

South African Police Minister Bheki Cele has announced a significant breakthrough in the case involving the tragic murder of renowned rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and his close friend, chef and entrepreneur Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane. The two were fatally shot outside the popular Wish restaurant in Durban on the 10th of February, 2023.

Cele revealed that a total of six suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murder, shedding light on their involvement in other criminal activities as well. The arrests mark a crucial development in the investigation into the high-profile double homicide.

According to KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, intensive investigations have unveiled a chilling sequence of events that began with the victims being followed from King Shaka Airport in Durban upon their arrival. The surveillance continued to their accommodation in Umhlanga and ultimately culminated in the fatal attack at the Wish restaurant.

The law enforcement authorities have disclosed that four of the suspects are scheduled to make their initial court appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday to face charges related to the heinous crime. Two additional suspects were captured in Eswatini but have not yet been extradited back to South Africa to stand trial.

Mkhwanazi further stated that efforts are ongoing to track down a seventh suspect implicated in the murder investigation, emphasizing the commitment of the police to pursue all leads and bring all responsible parties to justice. Amid these developments, the Forbes family has opted to refrain from making any public statements.
