Sixers Face Nets While Key Players Remain Injured
PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia 76ers will begin a three-game road trip on Sunday, taking on the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center. This matchup comes after the Sixers suffered their first loss of the season against the Boston Celtics on Friday.
The team will be without several key players. Jared McCain, who is recovering from surgery on his right thumb, has been practicing lightly but is not yet ready to return. McCain was the No. 16 pick in the 2024 draft.
Additionally, Dominick Barlow will miss his fourth straight game due to a right elbow laceration. He is scheduled for re-evaluation during this road trip. Paul George, a nine-time All-Star, remains out as he continues to recover from offseason arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
Joel Embiid will also sit out this game for knee management. He played 25 minutes against the Celtics but will not participate against the Nets. The Sixers will tip off against Brooklyn at 6 p.m. EST.
Meanwhile, the Nets are in a rebuilding phase and hope to capitalize on the Sixers’ injuries. This game provides them with an opportunity to compete against a formidable opponent, even while they continue to develop their young roster.
