King Of The Hill Reboot Sneak Peek

AUSTIN, Texas — The ATX TV Festival is set to showcase a sneak peek of the highly anticipated reboot of the beloved animated series ‘King of the Hill.’ Fans attending the festival at the end of the month will get an exclusive first look at the show, which is scheduled to premiere on Hulu this summer.

Fifteen years after its last episode, ‘King of the Hill’ will bring back iconic characters Hank, Peggy, Luanne, and Bobby. Co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels will participate in a panel discussion during the festival, providing insights into the new season.

Festival co-founders Caitlin McFarland and Emily Gipson revealed that they have been working on securing this sneak peek for a couple of years, in partnership with Hulu. McFarland stated, “They told us they were saving it for ATX and wouldn’t be showing it at South by Southwest or Tribeca.”

Gipson noted that the announcement of the reboot has generated significant excitement, with people from various parts of her life reaching out to express their enthusiasm. “We’ve gotten the most response from this announcement than maybe anything previously,” Gipson added.

Beyond ‘King of the Hill,’ the festival will feature prominent figures such as Jon Hamm and Seth Meyers, with Meyers making his debut at the festival. McFarland shared that his opening night conversation has been in the works for several years, as he was initially set to attend before canceling due to industry strikes.

Additionally, Austin native Noah Hawley, known for his work on ‘Fargo,’ is set to moderate a retrospective discussion on ‘Mad Men’ with Jon Hamm and John Slattery. “This is a very exciting opportunity to revisit those characters,” McFarland mentioned.

In a further celebration of indie television, Mark Duplass will present his new series ‘The Long Long Night,’ highlighting independent storytelling and distribution. This marks an emerging trend in the festival’s lineup.

“There’s really something for everyone here,” Gipson stated, emphasizing the diversity of programming available.

The festival’s first live late-night show will also take place, featuring Greg Iwinski as host, filled with comedy and live music. “It’s nerve-wracking, but we’re excited to bring this unique element to the festival,” said McFarland.

The ATX TV Festival will continue to celebrate the collaborative spirit of television, striving to create shared experiences for attendees. As they prepare for this 14th installment, the festival aims to foster connection and conversation among fans.

“TV is an intimate medium, and we love bringing people together to share those experiences,” Gipson concluded.
