Snl Family Feud Election Sketch

In the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, the show featured a unique and light-hearted take on the upcoming presidential election with a ‘Family Feud’ sketch. The segment, which aired on October 13, 2024, pitted Democrats against Republicans in a playful game show format.

The sketch was hosted by Kenan Thompson, who portrayed Steve Harvey, guiding the game and prompting players to identify items typically found in a compartment. The Democratic team included Maya Rudolph as Vice President Kamala Harris, Andy Samberg as her husband Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan as Tim Walz, and Dana Carvey as Joe Biden. On the Republican side, James Austin Johnson played Donald Trump, with Mikey Day as Donald Trump Jr. and Bowen Yang as JD Vance.

One of the standout moments came when Harris, portrayed by Maya Rudolph, listed items in her glove compartment, including a “big old Glock,” which surprisingly was on the board. The sketch also featured humorous responses from both teams, with Biden jokingly asking to “buy a vowel” and Trump meandering through his answers, leading Steve Harvey to reveal “Dementia!” on the board.

The segment was noted for its milder tone compared to some of the more provocative political sketches seen in recent weeks. It marked the third consecutive ‘SNL’ cold open focused on political themes, aligning with executive producer Lorne Michaels‘ approach to avoid lecturing the audience and instead highlight the comedic aspects of both sides.

Ariana Grande returned as the host for the episode, accompanied by musical guest Stevie Nicks. The sketch encapsulated the light-hearted rivalry between the candidates while poking fun at their public personas, providing a comedic relief as the presidential election approaches.
