SNL Season 50 Ends: No New Episode This Weekend, Re-broadcast Planned

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After 21 episodes, Season 50 of “Saturday Night Live” has officially ended. The last new episode aired on May 17, featuring actress Scarlett Johansson as host, marking her seventh time in that role. Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny served as the musical guest, performing hits like “NUEVAYoL” during the season finale.
During her opening monologue, Johansson humorously reflected on her long history with the show, joking about her debut at just 21 years old and saying it was only three years ago. The episode also included a musical segment with Johansson and cast members singing about the season’s highlights, including the departure of cast member Sarah Sherman.
With the season wrapped up, fans are left wondering about new episodes. This weekend, there will not be a live episode. Instead, NBC will air a re-broadcast of the March 1, 2025, episode featuring comedian Shane Gillis as host and Tate McRae as the musical guest. The re-broadcast is set for 11:30 ET/8:30 PT.
Fans of “SNL” will have to wait until the show resumes in the fall. Season 51’s start date is not yet announced, but the pattern suggests it could return in late September after a summer break. In the meantime, viewers can revisit classic episodes on Peacock.
“SNL” has maintained its relevance through changing times, providing comedic relief amid current events. With its deep history, the sketch comedy series continues to be a staple in American television.
