Sofia Vergara On Aging And Beauty

Sofia Vergara, the 51-year-old actress known for her roles in ‘Modern Family‘ and ‘Hot Pursuit,’ has recently shared her thoughts on aging, beauty, and her upcoming role as a grandmother. In an interview for People‘s 2024 Beautiful Issue, Vergara discussed her views on growing older and the cultural influences that shape her approach to beauty.

Vergara admitted that when she was younger, she perceived people her age as old, but now she feels great about her current stage in life. However, she expressed hesitation about embracing all-white hair, attributing this to her Colombian roots where looking good and taking care of one’s appearance is deeply ingrained. “I think because I’m Latin, we always grow up thinking about looking good, doing your hair, your makeup. It’s something that makes you feel good,” she said.

Despite her reservations about going gray, Vergara is excited about becoming a grandmother. Her 32-year-old son, Manolo, is expected to make her an “Abuela” soon, a role she is eagerly anticipating. “I think I’ll be a fun grandmother,” she added.

Vergara also talked about her approach to beauty and aging. She has tried various beauty hacks over the years and is not afraid to experiment. However, she is cautious about making significant changes, such as cutting her hair, fearing it might make her look old-fashioned.

As she navigates menopause, Vergara has shifted her priorities, emphasizing the importance of sleep and being camera-ready for her acting career. “I take sleeping seriously now. Before, I could survive on six hours, now I know that I don’t look good if I don’t sleep more,” she explained.

Overall, Vergara’s approach to aging is one of empowerment, focusing on what makes her feel confident and beautiful rather than following current trends.
