Sony Announces Release Date for Ghost of Yōtei on PS5

San Mateo, California — Sony and Sucker Punch Productions have revealed that their upcoming action-adventure game, Ghost of Yōtei, will launch on PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. This announcement was made on April 23, 2025, alongside the release of a new trailer titled ‘The Onryō’s List.’

The game follows the story of Atsu, a warrior seeking vengeance against a gang of outlaws known as the Yōtei Six. Sixteen years ago, the gang murdered her family and left her for dead, pinned to a burning ginkgo tree in Ezo, now known as Hokkaido. Despite this traumatic past, she survived and trained to hunt down her family’s killers.

The trailer provides a glimpse of Atsu’s journey, showcasing her desire for revenge against the six members: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito. Armed with the katana used to pin her to the tree, she embarks on her quest for retribution, but soon discovers a deeper purpose as she forms unlikely alliances.

Along with the game announcement, several editions of Ghost of Yōtei are available for pre-order starting May 2, 2025, at 10 AM local time. The standard edition will retail for $69.99 USD, while the Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at $79.99 USD, includes unique in-game items and bonuses.

The highly anticipated Collector’s Edition will also be available, featuring a replica of Atsu’s Ghost mask and other collectibles, with pricing details to be announced later. Pre-orders for all editions will come with exclusive in-game bonuses, including a unique mask and avatars.

Players can expect enhanced exploration mechanics in Ghost of Yōtei, providing them with choices on how to pursue the Yōtei Six, track dangerous targets, and engage in side quests. The game’s world promises both challenges and serene environments, allowing for immersive gameplay.
