SparkCharge secures $30.5 million for EV charging network expansion

Boston, Massachusetts – SparkCharge, a company specializing in mobile off-grid electric vehicle (EV) chargers, announced on May 26, 2025, that it has secured $30.5 million in funding to accelerate its growth in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The investment includes a $15.5 million Series A-1 funding round led by Monte’s Fam, along with a $15 million venture loan from Horizon Technology Finance.
Founded in 2017, SparkCharge operates what it claims is the largest off-grid EV charging network for fleets globally. The company’s primary service, Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS), enables commercial fleets to access DC fast charging without the lengthy wait for permits or costly construction. By providing flexible, mobile, and off-grid charging solutions, SparkCharge aims to deliver power immediately without relying on grid access.
According to CEO and founder Josh Aviv, this funding reflects both the growth story of SparkCharge and the opportunity in the electric vehicle market as fleets begin to embrace electric options. “We’re focused on removing the anxiety, guesswork, and delays – all still barriers for adoption – out of the commercial EV charging experience,” he stated.
The new capital will help SparkCharge grow its customer base, expand its North American coverage, and establish new partnerships. Currently, the company’s charging network operates in all 50 states and recently became the EV Charging Partner for the 2025 Masters Tournament. Additionally, SparkCharge has partnered with Pioneer Power, an electrical equipment manufacturer.
To date, SparkCharge has delivered over 4 million kilowatt-hours of energy, effectively displacing more than 500,000 gallons of gasoline. CFO David Piperno also highlighted that the company secured non-dilutive financing with CSC Leasing to ensure that equipment meets the rising demand.
As demand for commercial EVs surges, a report from Cox Automotive indicates that 87% of fleet managers plan to add EVs within the next five years, although access to charging stations remains a critical hurdle. SparkCharge aims to overcome this shortage. “SparkCharge’s mobile, off-grid charging solutions effectively solve this challenge by bringing power directly to vehicles when and where it’s needed,” said Ed Jean-Louis, CEO of lead investor Monte’s Fam.
