Sri Lanka Opts To Bat In Decisive Match Against Bangladesh In Odi Series

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat against Bangladesh in the third ODI of their series at Chattogram. The Sri Lankan captain has opted to bat after winning three tosses in a row, setting the stage for a crucial encounter against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh made significant changes to their lineup, introducing players like Anamul Haque, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman. These changes come after the exclusion of Litton Das, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Taijul Islam from the side, each for different reasons.

On the Sri Lankan side, there was one forced change with Maheesh Theekshana joining the playing XI in place of Dilshan Madushanka, who sustained an injury and will miss the rest of the Bangladesh tour as well as the beginning of IPL 2024.

This third ODI is crucial as the series stands at a 1-1 tie following Bangladesh’s win in the first game and Sri Lanka’s comeback victory in the second. The game held during the day, eliminating the dew factor that heavily influenced previous matches.

The Bangladesh playing XI includes Soumya Sarkar, Anamul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain, Towhid Hridoy, Mushfiqur Rahim as wicketkeeper, Mahmudullah, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Mustafizur Rahman.

Sri Lanka’s lineup features Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis as captain and wicketkeeper, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Charith Asalanka, Janith Liyanage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Pramod Madushan, and Lahiru Kumara.
