Stan's New Series 'population: 11' Offers A Fresh Take On Outback Mysteries

Stan Original‘s latest 12-episode series ‘Population: 11’ introduces viewers to a fresh perspective on outback mysteries. The show follows the journey of Andy Pruden, played by Ben Feldman, a resident of Cincinnati searching for his estranged father Hugo, portrayed by Darren Gilshenan, in the tiny town of Bidgeegud.

Upon his arrival in Bidgeegud, Andy discovers that Hugo has mysteriously vanished, leaving behind a quirky videotape hinting at alien abduction. Andy’s quest for answers brings him in contact with Cassie, played by Perry Mooney, a passerby who joins him in unraveling the town’s secrets.

The series draws inspiration from the real-life case of Paddy Moriarty and his dog Kellie’s disappearance from a remote NT town, which gained attention through the podcast ‘Last Stop Larrimah’ and the subsequent Netflix documentary.

Phil Lloyd, along with fellow writers Michael Bond, Steve Toltz, Sarinah Masukor, Julia Moriarty, and Zoe Pepper, have crafted a comedic mystery set against the backdrop of Derby, three hours north of Broome. ‘Population: 11’ is Stan’s second collaboration with Lionsgate following ‘The Newsreader’.

The show features a talented cast including seasoned actors Emily Taheny and Stephen Curry who bring life to characters like Audrey, Leon, Noel, Maureen, Trevor, and Cedric in the quirky outback town.

With each episode just half an hour long and packed with revelations, ‘Population: 11’ offers a binge-worthy viewing experience that keeps audiences guessing about the unfolding mystery. Stan’s decision to release all episodes at once allows viewers to delve into the engaging narrative at their own pace.
