T.G.I.S. Star Red Sternberg Passes Away Days Before His 51st Birthday

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Red Sternberg, known for his role in the popular 1990s youth-oriented show “T.G.I.S.,” passed away on May 27 at the age of 50. His wife, Sandy Sternberg, shared the news on Facebook three days later, on May 30, which was also Red’s birthday.
Sandy expressed her heartbreak in the emotional post, revealing that Red died suddenly just days before what was meant to be a joyful celebration of their family. “To be greeted ‘happy birthday’ and ‘sorry for your loss’ at the same time for three consecutive days has been the most difficult time I have ever gone through,” she wrote.
Red, born Rodwick Sternberg on May 30, 1974, was affectionately known as “Kiko” among fans and “Daddy/Dada” to his three children. Sandy noted the significance of May for their family, stating, “May was our month! 5th, 28th, 29th, and 30th.” She asked for privacy as they navigate through their loss, adding that memorial arrangements would be shared soon.
Filmmaker Mark Reyes, director of “T.G.I.S.,” publicly mourned Red’s death, stating, “The entire T.G.I.S Barkada is heartbroken to lose one of our own. Kiko, we love you, and we’re giving you a group hug right now.” Reyes shared condolences and offered support to Sandy and the family during this hard time.
Red was fondly remembered for his charming character on u201cT.G.I.S.u201d, which featured fellow stars such as Angelu de Leon, Bobby Andrews, and Michael Flores. The show aired from 1995 to 1999 and made a lasting impact on Filipino television.
