Star-Studded Affair Marks Louvre’s First Couture Exhibit During Paris Fashion Week

PARIS, France – Paris Fashion Week kicked off with an extravagant event at the Louvre, showcasing its first sartorial exhibition, “Louvre Couture,” alongside the Grand Dîner du Louvre, which raised over 1 million euros for the museum’s initiatives.
The event drew a star-studded guest list, including Hollywood celebrities like Gemma Chan, Dev Patel, and Michelle Yeoh, as well as fashion icons such as Liya Kebede and Tyra Banks. Guests mingled at a cocktail hour before enjoying dinner prepared by three-starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic and a VIP tour of the stunning collection.
The exhibition spans 9,000 square meters and features garments from 45 fashion houses. These pieces are thoughtfully curated to correspond with the Louvre’s historic art, showcasing fashion’s deep-rooted relationship with art and history.
Highlights include a lavish jacket from Karl Lagerfeld‘s last haute couture collection for Chanel, located near an 18th-century console that inspired it. Another standout is a red velvet gown by John Galliano, echoing the aesthetics of the 19th-century court captured in the film “Sissi—The Young Empress.” The exhibit emphasizes the synergy between fashion and art through meticulous displays of both mediums.
Oliver Gabet, the Louvre’s decorative arts director, addressed the relationship between fashion design and art: “The Louvre doesn’t have fashion collections and never will…but we do have 32,000 art objects … So our question was: How did designers look at the works in the Louvre, draw inspiration from them, and reinterpret them?”
Though no formal dress code was provided, the attendees reflected the theme through their outfits. Paris Jackson donned an Iris Van Herpen couture ensemble from the SS20 collection, while singer Doechii graced the event in a striking marigold yellow gown by Schiaparelli, both illustrating the intersections of high fashion and decorative arts.
At the event, Jackson’s couture piece featured intricate designs highlighting her tattoos, garnering praise on social media. “Edgy, cool and gorgeous! She wears this SO well,” one fan commented.
After the Louvre event, Jackson attended the Stella McCartney show, where she wore a stunning off-the-shoulder black maxi dress, further solidifying her presence in the fashion world.
In her personal life, Jackson recently announced her engagement to music producer Justin Long, sharing an intimate moment on social media. When not attending glamorous events, she resides in a $3.8 million cabin-style home in Hollywood Hills, once owned by Hollywood icon Rock Hudson.
