Las Vegas Charity Poker Tournament Celebrities

LAS VEGAS — Hollywood stars are set to converge at a charity poker tournament later this month to benefit cerebral palsy research and support. The event, hosted by the One Step Closer Foundation, will take place on April 26 and feature notable participants including actors Ted Danson, Montel Williams, and Jennifer Tilly, alongside 2009 Main Event champion Joe Cada.

The tournament will have a $1,000 buy-in, and organizers expect a 50/50 cash prize pool. PokerGO is partnering with the foundation for this event.

Registration for participants is now open, but seating is limited, making early sign-up advisable for those who wish to attend. In a recent social media statement, Jacob Zalewski, founder of the One Step Closer Foundation, emphasized the impact of their past fundraising efforts.

“Funds from the charity events have provided crucial support to hospitals, groundbreaking research projects, esteemed universities, essential scholarships, impactful grants, and enduring endowments,” Zalewski stated. “Together, we are transforming the lives of countless individuals.”

As they prepare for the upcoming tournament, Zalewski reinforced the foundation’s dedication to expanding these initiatives. “We invite you to join us in making this our most impactful and successful event to date, as we continue to build a brighter future for the individuals and families we serve,” he added.

Tilly, a seasoned poker player, made her mark in the charity circuit by reaching the final table of a similar charity event in November 2024. Notably, additional celebrity participants and professional poker players will be announced for this tournament in the coming weeks.

Outside of this event, several other charity poker tournaments will occur in Las Vegas. These include multiple events hosted by the Charity Series of Poker (CSOP), such as the All In Gala on April 14, Heroes at the Table on May 4, the Full Houses of Food on June 12, and Cops 4 Kids on June 13.

Recently, the CSOP also held the Larry Frank Memorial Charity Event in South Florida, where Matthew Zarcadoolas emerged victorious, claiming the $5,000 first-place prize along with a seat into the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown Championship.
