Star-Studded Premiere for Minecraft Movie Celebrates Imagination and Friendship

London, England – Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Danielle Brooks walked the green grass carpet at the world premiere of A Minecraft Movie in Leicester Square on March 30, 2025. The film, which opens in theaters on April 4, is based on the popular video game and follows four misfits who find themselves in a bizarre, cubic wonderland filled with imagination.
The star-studded event attracted attention with its whimsical setting and the enthusiasm of the cast. Black, who plays the iconic character Steve, shared his thoughts on the film’s timely message. “What the world needs now is love, sweet love,” he stated, quoting Burt Bacharach’s famous song. “This movie is about friendship and working together to make [the world] a better place, despite some anger and violence.”
Momoa echoed Black’s sentiments, saying, “I think everyone needs to escape a little bit right now. It’s nice to sit back and have a really fun adventure and giggle and laugh.” He playfully remarked about working with Black, stating, “I never want to do another film [with him]. It was absolutely shit. No, I mean he’s beyond what you want him to be.”
As excitement builds among fans, Momoa expressed optimism for future installments. “We won’t let you down. We worked our ass off for you, and I think we brought the world to life,” he asserted.
BROOKS, while not an avid gamer herself, noted how her role aligns with the interests of her young daughter. “I try, girl. I’m a watcher and participant. I feel like there’s gonna come a time when my five-year-old daughter is into Minecraft now because her mommy’s in it!”
Hansen, a newcomer to the film, shared his experience landing the role, stating, “I didn’t expect it, but when I first walked on set and read the script, I realized I was gonna be in it. The more seasoned cast members taught me that having fun is really important.”
Producer Cale Boyter added, “It’s gonna make you feel young again. I think it’s a beautiful thing to turn your brain off and lose yourself in a world where you can do the things that you can’t do in the real world.”
