Star Wars Celebration 2025 Unveils Epic Details for Andor Season 2

Tokyo, Japan — Star Wars Celebration 2025 is in full swing, and the excitement reached new heights on April 19 as the Andor Season 2 panel took center stage. Stars Diego Luna, Genevieve O'Reilly, and Alan Tudyk, along with creator Tony Gilroy, announced the season’s upcoming premiere on Disney+ set for April 22, followed by its broadcast debut on ABC and FX on April 23 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT.
Diego Luna enthused about Season 2’s sprawling narrative, declaring, “It’s so big in every possible way. Everything matters so much because we’re getting close to Rogue One. We have all the characters from Season 1 plus many new faces. It’s going to be intense.” He added that viewers should watch Rogue One after finishing the season for a new perspective on the film.
In a significant production shift, Gilroy revealed that this season will compress four years into the story, with each group of three episodes depicting one year. “We’re dropping them three a week. It’s like dropping a movie every week,” he explained. The team aims to highlight the most pivotal moments within each year.
According to executive producer Sanne Wohlenberg, this season is “wider, larger, more ambitious,” featuring 140 sets spread across seven stages, 700 costumes, 150 creatures, 30 droids, and 4,100 VFX shots. Gilroy stated, “We’ll follow everyone you like and love. Cassian’s at the center, but there’s a chorus all around him. We will tell every story full out.”
O’Reilly teased new developments for her character Mon Mothma, emphasizing that this season explores darker themes. “We start somewhere in Chandrila — with a wedding — then we delve into some dark places as Mon navigates her role under the Empire’s scrutiny. She must risk everything to speak some truth,” O’Reilly said.
Denise Gough, who portrays Dedra Meero, shared insights about her character’s backstory, stating, “We find out where Dedra comes from this season, and it gets real strange. It wasn’t so much girl boss. It was much more fascist this season.”
Kyle Soller noted the complicated dynamics between Deedra and his character Syril Karn, calling the relationship “really weird” as Syril begins the season in a newly confident state. “They come together and open themselves up to each other, leading to extreme situations that they never anticipated. It’s pretty spicy,” Soller shared.
Adria Arjona, returning as Bix, remarked on her character’s journey in Season 2. “When we first meet Bix, she’s left her home and is trying to reconstruct herself,” said Arjona. “This season, we really get to see these two characters come together in a special way.”
Alan Tudyk returns as the droid K-2SO, expressing his excitement for the role’s evolution. “I always held out hope that K-2SO would return. We get to see the birth of K-2SO this season. It’s beyond anything I could have hoped for,” Tudyk noted. His absence was profoundly felt by Luna, who reflected, “I missed Alan badly. I was laughing when I saw him back in his suit.”
The Andor panel concluded with a surprise screening of the first episode of Season 2, much to the crowd’s delight. Fans can look forward to IGN’s upcoming review next week.
