Miami Open Tennis Action March 2025

MIAMI, FL – Top tennis players continue their pursuit of glory at the 2025 Miami Open, held from March 19-30 at Hard Rock Stadium. The third round commences on Sunday, featuring exciting matchups amongst the world’s elite.

Among those taking the court are top seed Alexander Zverev, No. 3 seed Taylor Fritz, and No. 4 seed Aryna Sabalenka. Zverev heads into the afternoon session on Stadium Court, competing against an as-yet unnamed opponent, while Fritz takes on Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in the second match on Grandstand. Zverev’s match marks the latest chapter in his distinctive path through the tournament.

The men’s competition includes emerging talent Joao Fonseca, who will battle Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the evening. This matchup marks their first-ever encounter, heightening anticipation among fans for a possible clash of styles.

As the action unfolds, players like Frances Tiafoe and Stefanos Tsitsipas also vie for advancement in this prominent ATP Masters 1000 event.

Sunday also showcased impressive performances as Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov secured a spot in the fourth round, overcoming Russia’s Karen Khachanov with a hard-fought 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5 victory. Dimitrov, aiming to defend points from last year’s finals, now faces either 31st-seeded Brandon Nakashima or former champion David Goffin in the next round.

“It was a tough match, but I’m happy with my performance today,” Dimitrov said post-match. “I know what’s at stake, and I’m ready for the challenge ahead.”

Among the women’s matches, world No. 1 Iga Swiatek triumphed over seasoned veteran Elise Mertens, winning 7-6(2), 6-1 in one hour and 48 minutes. Swiatek’s powerful serve, but also her agility on the court, contributed to her success, with six aces recorded.

“I was focused from the start and wanted to make a statement,” Swiatek stated. “I believe I can go further; this title is very important for me.” Swiatek’s next match will be against 22nd seed Elina Svitolina, who advanced by defeating 15th seed Karolina Muchova.

As Monday’s schedule approaches, highlights include highly anticipated matches featuring tennis heavyweights such as Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, and Madison Keys, all looking to advance to the next stages of the tournament.

Fans can keep up with match progress and results through live updates available throughout the tournament from local broadcasters and online streaming.
