Stars Unveil New Trailer for ‘Karate Kid: Legends’ at CinemaCon 2025

LAS VEGAS, March 31, 2025 — Ralph Macchio and Ben Wang, the stars of the upcoming film “Karate Kid: Legends,” took the stage at CinemaCon 2025 to unveil the movie’s new trailer. The event, taking place at Caesars Palace, showcased the exciting sequel and celebrated its connection to the beloved original franchise.
Before introducing key scenes, Macchio, 63, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am honored to return to theaters again playing Daniel LaRusso.” This sequel is poised to continue the legacy of the karate film series that began with the iconic 1984 movie.
As anticipation built, a vibrant drum processional featuring lantern-bearers and fluid kung-fu dancers set the tone for the trailer’s debut, which focused heavily on the film’s legendary third lead, Jackie Chan. At 70 years old, Chan showcased his agility in an impressive kitchen fight scene with Wang, who portrays the new student, Li Fong. “We hope to deliver a blend of nostalgia and fresh storytelling for both old and new fans,” said Chan.
In the film, Mr. Han, portrayed by Chan, reveals he is pursuing Macchio’s LaRusso to honor a promise made by the late Mr. Miyagi, the iconic sensei played by Pat Morita. This connection back to the original films is a central theme in “Karate Kid: Legends,” which takes place three years after the final season of the popular spinoff series, “Cobra Kai.”
Director Jonathan Entwistle, known for “The End of the F***ing World,” helms the film, from a screenplay developed by Rob Lieber, of “Peter Rabbit” fame. The cast also includes Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, and Ming-Na Wen, further expanding the universe of the beloved franchise.
Set to premiere in theaters on May 30, “Karate Kid: Legends” stands as a significant addition to the martial arts franchise, promising to resonate with long-time fans and attract new audiences as well.
