Stephen A. Smith Urges Ravens to Harness Lamar Jackson’s Potential

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith is calling for Ravens head coach John Harbaugh to optimize quarterback Lamar Jackson‘s performance amid the team’s recent struggles.
As the Ravens prepare for their crucial matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Smith emphasized the importance of Jackson’s role. The Ravens currently sit at 1-2, and a loss could result in their worst start in a decade.
“This is your franchise quarterback,” Smith stated. “You have to find ways to unleash him, especially in critical moments.”
Jackson has faced challenges in Arrowhead Stadium, where he holds a 0-3 record. His first loss as a starter occurred there in 2018 when he suffered an ankle injury in overtime. The following year, Jackson faced setbacks with three failed two-point conversion attempts, and last season, a last-minute touchdown was overturned following a replay review.
“It’s in the past,” Jackson said, reflecting on his previous losses at Arrowhead. “We need to focus on what’s ahead.”
The Ravens are eager to avoid their worst start since 2015, a season that saw them miss the playoffs. After three losses in a row, securing a win against the Chiefs is critical.
“You live for big games like this,” said Ravens running back. “As a kid, you want to play in environments like that.”
With the Chiefs also struggling at 1-2, the pressure mounts for both teams. Jackson’s determination remains strong as he looks to elevate the Ravens on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET.
