Steve Buscemi Praises Jenna Ortega Ahead of ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

NEW YORK – Actor Steve Buscemi recently praised his co-star Jenna Ortega as they prepare for the upcoming second season of the hit Netflix series “Wednesday.” During the Family Dinner fundraising event hosted by Exploring the Arts, Buscemi shared his thoughts on Ortega and the show’s future with PEOPLE.
“Oh, she’s great,” Buscemi, 67, said of Ortega while speaking exclusively to PEOPLE. “She’s just, she’s so sharp and funny and down to earth. And just a wonderful actress, a wonderful scene partner. The best.”
Although Buscemi expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, he maintained that details regarding the plot are being kept under wraps. “All very hush-hush, as they say, but I think it’s going to be a great season, and I loved working on it,” he said. Buscemi plays a character named Barry Dort, as first reported by Deadline in April 2024.
Ortega, 22, who portrays Wednesday Addams, also shared her excitement for the new season. In a previous interview with E! News, she mentioned that some of her favorite scenes were filmed for the finale. “Some of the footage that we shot in Wednesday season 2, especially in the last episode, is some of my favorite footage from the show,” she noted.
During the event, Ortega praised executive producer and director Tim Burton, adding, “Tim really had a ball. Everything is very graphic and it’s very exciting and inspiring to work with someone who gets you excited about the shots that you’re doing every day.”
The all-star cast of “Wednesday” will see the return of Ortega, Emma Myers, Moosa Mostafa, Victor Dorobantu, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo. New cast members include Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor, who are set to join the ensemble as series regulars.
Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar expressed their excitement about the new season, saying, “We are thrilled that the entire Addams family will be enrolling in Nevermore Academy this season along with a dream cast of icons and new faces.” The duo further hinted at the season’s dark, kooky, and mysterious nature, stating, “If we told you why, Wednesday would kill us. So our lips are sealed.”
Scheduled to premiere in 2025, the second season of “Wednesday” promises to captivate audiences with its unique blend of humor and intrigue, continuing to explore the fantastical world of Nevermore Academy.
