Steven Seagal, 72, Appears Unrecognizable in New Photos and Russian Documentary
Steven Seagal, the 72-year-old American actor known for his action roles in films like Under Siege, has been making headlines recently due to his significantly altered appearance. New photos and footage from a Russian documentary have revealed a visibly transformed Seagal, who has gained a substantial amount of weight and adopted a quieter life in Russia.
The documentary, titled In the Name of Justice, aired on Russia’s state broadcaster VGTRK on October 10. It shows Seagal moving through Russian-occupied areas of Ukraine, particularly in the Donbas region, where he interacts with residents and discusses the war-torn landscape. This rare, candid view of Seagal’s life has sparked discussion among fans and former colleagues, many of whom are surprised by his new look.
Seagal, who has been a vocal supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin and received Russian citizenship in 2016, has rarely posted full-body images on his social media. Sources close to him have noted that he has likely gained at least 50 pounds, a significant change from his earlier physique. In the past, Seagal was known for controlling the narrative and camera angles during filming to avoid any emphasis on his weight or appearance.
The documentary also highlights Seagal’s alignment with Russian perspectives, including his interactions with captured members of the Azov Brigade, a group labeled as terrorist by Russia. Seagal’s statements in the documentary align closely with the Kremlin‘s rhetoric, further solidifying his public support for Putin. He has expressed his loyalty to Putin, stating, “I will be on the side of my president, I will fight on the side of my president and, if necessary, I will die with my president”.
