Stock Market Open On Veterans Day 2024

Veterans Day, which falls on Monday, November 11, 2024, will see a mixed schedule for financial markets. The stock market, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq, will be open for a regular trading session on Veterans Day[1][2].

In contrast, the bond market will be closed in observance of the holiday. This means that while stock traders will have a normal trading day, bond traders will have the day off[1].

It is worth noting that both the stock and bond markets will close for other upcoming holidays, including Thanksgiving on November 28, Christmas on December 25, and New Year’s Day on January 1. Additionally, the stock market will close early on the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, while the bond market will also close early on those days and New Year’s Eve.

Beyond the financial markets, Veterans Day will affect various other services. Most banks, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo, will be closed, although customers can still use ATMs or online banking services. The United States Post Office will also be closed, and most government institutions, such as DMVs, public schools, and local libraries, will not operate on this day[2].

However, many retail stores like Costco, Target, Walmart, and Kroger will remain open, and national parks will be open with waived entrance fees for all visitors on Veterans Day.
