Sundance Film Festival 2024 Lineup Announcement

The Sundance Institute has unveiled the complete lineup for the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, marking the event’s 40th edition. The festival, set to take place in January in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, as well as online, promises a rich array of independent films and engaging events. This year’s program includes 91 projects, comprising 82 feature-length films from 24 countries worldwide, spread across 12 categories such as U.S. Dramatic Competition, U.S. Documentary Competition, and New Frontier.

A highlight of the festival is the addition of the documentary *The Greatest Night in Pop*, which chronicles the creation of the global hit “We Are the World.” The premiere will feature a conversation with Lionel Richie, Bao Nguyen, and Julia Nottingham. The Beyond Film programming, curated by Ania Trzebiatowska, will include lively discussions and intimate conversations with artists, enabling audiences to connect deeply with the stories and themes presented.

The festival will also celebrate its legacy with events such as *Power of Story: Four Decades of Taking Chances*, featuring Miguel Arteta, Richard Linklater, Dawn Porter, and Christine Vachon. Other notable events include a screening of seminal short films hosted by Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass, and a workshop for emerging creators led by Carlos López Estrada.

Eugene Hernandez, the Festival Director, emphasized the festival’s commitment to discovering new voices and stories. “Sundance’s passion and power shines through its programming. Curation is Sundance’s secret sauce and we’re energized by the range of films, stories, and artists we’ve watched and selected from around the world,” Hernandez stated.

Registration for online accounts and the purchase of online packages and passes are now open, with single film tickets set to go on sale on January 11. The festival’s programming team, led by Kim Yutani, has curated an exciting lineup that promises to be a special year for discovery and community).
