Medellín, Colombia – Colombian singer and rapper Maluma balances his busy career with life at home, caring for four beloved dogs. Despite being a first-time father and juggling a demanding tour schedule, he finds joy with his pet companions, two Dobermans named Buda and Karma, and two Siberian Huskies, Bonnie and Clyde.

In a recent cover shoot for Dogue, photographed in Medellín, Maluma shared a glimpse into his life with his furry friends. “They are part of my family,” he states, stressing his long-time love for animals. He recalls growing up with a strong connection to animals, stating, “I have a ranch full of them in Colombia with horses, cows, and chickens.”

Maluma’s journey with dogs began about a decade ago when he adopted Bonnie and Clyde, his first pets. “I really wanted white Huskies, but they were hard to find,” he explains, recounting how he acquired them while living in a small apartment with his mother and sister. “They were mischievous puppies, chewing everything.”

As his career blossomed, Maluma moved into a bigger home and welcomed Buda and Karma into the family. “Buda was my first Doberman; when I saw him, I couldn’t believe how big he was at just eight months,” he reminisced. Over the years, the dogs have learned to coexist harmoniously, though it took time for Bonnie and Clyde to accept Buda.

Maluma acknowledges each dog has a unique personality. “Clyde is independent. Karma is a bit of a disaster, but I love her,” he shares. Buda, however, is his constant travel companion, as Maluma explains, “Buda is my soulmate. He’s my boy, my best friend.”

As a new parent, Maluma finds raising his dogs has prepared him for fatherhood. “Training my dogs was great preparation for becoming a dad,” he says. “I’m very disciplined with them, which has helped with our daughter, Paris.” He laughs, noting that Buda and Paris have synchronized their internal clocks, waking him at 6:00 AM.

Maluma is currently working on new music and collaborations. “I’m excited about what’s next,” he says. As anticipation builds for his upcoming projects, he reflects on the joy his dogs bring to his life.

In an exclusive questionnaire, Maluma divulged that his dogs have made him happier and provided companionship during lonely tours. “They are there for me 24/7, and that means everything,” he concludes.
