Susan Sarandon Claims She Has Been Blacklisted in Hollywood Over Pro-Palestinian Comments
Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon has revealed that she believes she has been blacklisted in Hollywood due to her comments at a pro-Palestinian rally last November. During the rally, Sarandon stated that “a lot of people were afraid of being Jewish at this time and are getting a taste of what it feels like to be a Muslim in this country, so often subjected to violence.”
These comments were widely criticized for implying that Jews had not previously experienced persecution, which Sarandon later acknowledged was a “terrible mistake” in an interview with the *Sunday Times*. She expressed her intention to highlight concerns over antisemitic attacks but admitted that her phrasing was misguided.
The fallout from her statements was immediate. Sarandon was dropped by her agency, and her projects were pulled. She described the situation, saying, “I was dropped by my agency, my projects were pulled. I’ve been used as an example of what not to do if you want to continue to work.”
Sarandon is not alone in facing backlash for her views. Other individuals, including actress Melissa Barrera and an agent at CAA, have also faced consequences for their anti-Israel comments. Sarandon has continued to express pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel views, even defending Hamas’s actions and denying the severity of their atrocities.
Despite her public apology, Sarandon’s career in major Hollywood films remains uncertain. She is currently working on an indie film but doubts she will be offered roles in major films again. Sarandon has been a vocal figure in political activism and has shared numerous anti-Israel posts on social media.
