The Sydney Swans have achieved a significant milestone by securing the contract extension of their star player, Errol Gulden, for the long term. The new deal ties Gulden to the Swans until at least the end of 2028, marking a pivotal moment for the AFL club.

Gulden, aged 21, who was previously unsigned beyond the current season, has now committed to a four-year extension with the Swans. This move comes after he revealed that a rival club, Adelaide, had offered him a staggering 10-year contract during the negotiation process.

Expressing his thoughts on the contract duration, Gulden mentioned that a four-year commitment felt right for both himself and the club. The young superstar emphasized the importance of focusing on his performance on the field while also leaving room for future opportunities.

A product of the Swans academy, Gulden was drafted in 2020 with Pick 32 and has quickly risen to become one of the AFL’s standout players. His exceptional 2023 season, which included his maiden All-Australian selection, a Swans’ best and fairest award, and a fourth-place finish in the Brownlow Medal count, solidified his status as a top talent in the league.

Speaking about the contract extension, Gulden expressed his gratitude for the trust the club has placed in him. He highlighted the supportive environment at the Swans, where he began his career alongside club legends such as Buddy Franklin and Josh Kennedy.

Swans’ football boss, Leon Cameron, lauded Gulden’s work ethic and consistency, emphasizing his leadership qualities within the playing group. Cameron praised Gulden’s development over his three years in the AFL and emphasized his integral role in the club’s future.
