Sydney Sweeney Euphoria Interview

In a candid interview on ‘Sunday Today With Willie Geist,’ Sydney Sweeney shared a personal challenge faced by her family concerning her role in HBO‘s hit series ‘Euphoria.’ Known for its explicit content involving sex and drugs, the series has brought Sweeney both critical acclaim and family discomfort. “My dad and grandfather turned it off and left,” Sweeney admitted, describing her father and grandfather’s unprepared and uncomfortable reaction to the show.

Sweeney recounted that while her mother visited the set and understood the nature of the scenes, her father, accompanied by his own parents, was unaware of the explicit content he was about to watch. “I didn’t prepare him for what he would see,” Sweeney confessed, acknowledging the surprise for her father and grandparents while viewing the show.

However, reactions within her family were not uniformly negative. Sweeney noted that her grandmother has been an enthusiastic supporter of her career, attending sets worldwide and even featuring as an extra in some of her projects. Despite the controversy surrounding her role in ‘Euphoria,’ Sweeney has demonstrated her range as an actress, appearing in productions such as ‘The White Lotus‘ and ‘Immaculate.’

While she continues to receive offers for similar roles, Sweeney expressed her preference for projects that present a greater challenge, driving her artistic motivation. Her career trajectory reflects the dual path of seeking complex and varied roles while navigating familial sensitivities related to her work.
