Tarek and Heather Win Dramatic Finale of ‘The Flip Off’ Reality Series

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The much-anticipated season finale of HGTV’s reality competition series, ‘The Flip Off,’ aired on March 5, revealing a dramatic conclusion to the fierce house-flipping rivalry between exes Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack, along with Tarek’s wife Heather. Across six episodes, the teams vied for the highest profit margin on their flipped homes, culminating in a showdown that heightened viewer anticipation.
In the finale, Tarek and Heather were crowned the winners with a remarkable 39 percent return on investment (ROI) compared to Christina’s 24 percent ROI. The El Moussas purchased their property in Long Beach for $710,000, invested $409,000 in renovations, and went under contract for $1.55 million. In contrast, Christina’s house, bought for $605,000 and renovated for $303,000, sold for $1.125 million, setting a neighborhood record.
Guest judge Jeff Lewis remarked, “I know there were six design challenges. But ultimately it was about who made the most money. The fact that you both sold these houses within 30 days is incredible.”
“Oh it feels good to be a champion,” said Tarek in a confessional shot. “I think at this point, Christina is finally going to acknowledge that I am the king of flipping.” Conversely, Christina expressed her disappointment, stating, “I’m definitely bummed that I lost. This has been a very difficult past few months. I’ve learned that I need to slow down.”
Notably, the finale included emotional reflections from both competitors. Christina alluded to her estranged husband Josh Hall, who was initially supposed to be her partner on the show. “Not being around someone who’s putting me down and just being much more comfortable in my own skin,” she said of her improved mindset after their split. “I am proud that I finished this without a partner and made a really great profit.”
The season, rich with ups and downs, also featured instances of tension, particularly highlighted by the competitive banter between Christina and Tarek. Christina’s other ex, Ant Anstead, also made a cameo during the season, stirring discussion over loyalties during one of the episodes.
Throughout the series, viewers witnessed not only the intense competition but also personal trials, notably Christina’s breakup with Hall. This significant event was documented, allowing fans to see her vulnerability amidst the competitive environment.
The show’s trajectory has led to speculation regarding a potential second season. While no official announcement has been made, Christina hinted at a desire for a rematch, stating, “I absolutely want a rematch. I want revenge and I will win the next round.”
As season one wraps, the dynamics among the exes and their partners showcased a blend of rivalry and camaraderie, proving that while the stakes were high, family bonds ultimately prevailed. All six episodes of ‘The Flip Off’ season one are now available for streaming on HGTV.
