Tata Launches Revamped Sierra SUV Starting at Rs 11.49 Lakh
MUMBAI, India — Tata Motors has officially launched the highly anticipated Sierra SUV, with prices starting at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks a significant return for the iconic nameplate, which was discontinued in 2003. Bookings for the SUV will open on December 16, 2025, with deliveries set to commence on January 15, 2026.
The new Sierra is available in seven variants: Smart Plus, Pure, Pure Plus, Adventure, Adventure Plus, Accomplished, and Accomplished+. Buyers can choose from six color options, including Bengal Rouge, Andaman Adventure, Coorg Clouds, Munnar Mist, Mintal Grey, and Pristine White.
Under the hood, the Sierra offers three engine options: a 1.5-litre Kryotec turbo diesel producing 118 hp and 280 Nm of torque, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with 106 hp and 145 Nm of torque, and a 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo petrol engine generating 160 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Tata Motors plans to release an all-wheel drive model in the near future.
The design pays homage to the original Sierra while embracing modern aesthetics. Features include bold ‘Sierra’ branding, a connected LED light bar, and a textured grille. The vehicle maintains the signature Alpine window design, enhanced with contemporary elements like a blacked-out B-pillar.
Inside, the cabin features a sophisticated layout with a triple-screen setup and modern design elements inspired by Tata’s other vehicles. Notable features include a panoramic sunroof, automated climate control, and a high-quality audio system with a JBL soundbar. Additionally, the SUV is equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), ensuring enhanced safety.
Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles MD and CEO Shailesh Chandra emphasized the legendary status of the original Sierra at the unveiling. ‘It was designed to stand out,’ he said, highlighting the importance of blending legacy with modern needs. The company’s Chief Design Officer, Martin Uhlarik, added that the new model represents the aspirations of a whole generation.
As the Tata Sierra reenters the market, it faces competition from vehicles like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara among others. With a perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation, the 2025 Tata Sierra aims to attract both loyal fans and new customers.
