Taylor Kitsch Open to ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reboot Cameo
Taylor Kitsch, known for his role as Tim Riggins in the beloved series “Friday Night Lights,” has expressed openness to making a cameo in Peacock‘s upcoming reboot of the show. During an interview on SiriusXM‘s The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw, Kitsch revealed that he has been approached about the project but remains cautious about committing to a full-time role.
“I’ve been asked, and we’ll leave it at that,” Kitsch said, adding that he would consider appearing for a brief role, such as an opposing team’s coach. “I would come in and do something, maybe for an episode or something, but I don’t wanna go and do the whole thing,” he explained. Kitsch emphasized his desire to continue pursuing challenging roles rather than leading a reboot.
The original “Friday Night Lights,” which aired from 2006 to 2011, followed the lives of a high school football team in Dillon, Texas. The reboot, produced by Universal Television, will reunite key creatives from the original series, including showrunner Jason Katims, director Peter Berg, and producer Brian Grazer. The new iteration will focus on a high school football team rebuilding after a devastating hurricane, aiming to become a symbol of hope for their town.
Kitsch, who played the iconic character Tim Riggins, joked about the challenges of stepping into a new role within the same universe. “If you saw me as someone else, you’d be like, ‘That’s Riggins,'” he said. Despite his reservations, Kitsch remains a fan favorite, and his potential involvement has sparked excitement among longtime viewers.
No official release date has been announced for the reboot, but it is confirmed to stream on Peacock. Fans of the original series are eagerly awaiting further details about the cast and storyline.
