Team Usa Races Towards Paris Olympics Finale

The Olympics are wrapping up in Paris, with just a few events left scheduled for Sunday. We’ve officially had 15 full days of thrilling competition!

On Saturday, Team USA added another 11 medals to their impressive tally, bringing their total to 122 medals. That’s 32 more than China, who is in second place.

While Team USA leads in the overall medal count, China has snatched the lead in gold medals, sitting at 39 golds compared to the USA’s 38. There’s still one last day of competition to go!

Of the 122 medals that Team USA has now earned, they have 38 golds, 42 silvers, and 42 bronzes. Great Britain follows in the medal race with 63 total medals, just ahead of France at 62.

Australia rounds out the top three in gold medals with 18 but trails far behind the USA and China.

In Saturday’s events, Team USA didn’t come out empty-handed, securing silver medals in sport climbing and canoe sprint. Brooke Raboutou made history as the first American woman to medal in sport climbing with her silver in the women’s boulder and lead competition.

Nevin Harrison also had a standout performance, earning the best American finish in canoeing with her silver medal in the women’s canoe single 200m. Team USA is now focused on tying China, hoping to win big in women’s soccer and basketball finals.

In a dominant display, China also dominated the diving events, sweeping all the gold medals. This marks a historic first for them in Olympic diving. With only 24 hours to go, Team USA has some catching up to do!
