The Block Australia Living Room Week 2024

Tensions have reached new heights on the popular television show “The Block” as contestants navigate the challenges of Living Room Week. Courtney and Grant have once again found themselves at the center of controversy, rivaling Mimi in the race to be this season’s villain. With a delay in plaster delivery threatening deadlines, contestants are scrambling to complete their tasks.

In an unprecedented move for the show’s history, production teams have provided contestants with painting teams. However, the late plaster delivery means there is nothing for the painters to work on, putting added pressure on the contestants. Charlotte and Maddy faced a setback when their plasterer was denied entry due to improper insurance, jeopardizing their plans for Venetian plaster on one of their walls.

Amidst the chaos, Jack, a carpenter assisting the sisters, approached Grant and Courtney to request a plasterer. Grant, however, stated that every member of his team was essential, despite some standing idle. Fortunately, foreman Dan called in a favor from a contact, but Courtney quickly seized the opportunity, directing the plasterer to her and Grant’s space without consulting Charlotte and Maddy.

Footage aired by producers contradicted Grant’s later claims that they had no issues with the sisters and had lent them plasterers previously. This led to a heated response from Jack who questioned their sincerity, calling the situation “outrageous.”

The judging brought mixed reviews for the contestants. Charlotte and Maddy pushed through with their Venetian plaster feature wall, complemented by cabinetry, a natural log fireplace, and a textured rug. Despite their best efforts, judges criticized the scale of their dining and coffee tables, with Darren Palmer suggesting a need for more “drama.”

Courtney and Grant’s room design was scrutinized for its high pendant lights and awkward fireplace location, noted by Palmer as “not doing the job it’s meant to do.” Ricky and Haydn were praised for their cozy lowered ceiling, though their table orientation drew critique.

Kylie and Brad stood out with a flawless lighting plan highlighted by sconces and a custom mirror, earning two perfect scores from the judges. Their only flaw was an undersized rug. Conversely, Mimi and Kristian‘s room was marked by Marty as “unsophisticated,” with Shaynna Blaze adding that the room layout was poorly conceived.

The scoreboard revealed Kylie and Brad as the week’s winners, dispelling prior accusations Kylie made about the competition being rigged.
