Tensions Rise on ‘Sister Wives’ as Divorce Becomes Official

Kody And Meri Brown Sister Wives

The latest episode of the reality TV show “Sister Wives” has captured a highly charged moment between former spouses Meri and Kody Brown. During Season 19, Episode 6, Kody Brown expresses dissatisfaction with the timing of their divorce, reportedly telling Meri, “I wish you would have made your choice sooner.” Meri Brown responds, “My choice was always to stay. Had I wanted to leave sooner, I would have left sooner.”

In a confessional segment, Kody Brown reflects on the complexities of plural marriage, suggesting this has led to prolonged unhappy relationships. “Leadership will never allow you to marry again if you’re discarding wives. Well, I was in terrible relationships, but wasn’t willing to discard them,” he explained. The reality star, who was once spiritually married to Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn Brown, is now only legally married to Robyn.

Kody Brown further delves into the nature of his marriages, stating, “You just think you’re in a normal relationship because all your friends have the same problem.” He underscores the lack of emotional intimacy in his past relationships. The conversation intensifies when Kody claims, “It’s marrying the wrong person because you don’t know,” prompting a reaction from Meri Brown, “Wow, OK. Because you married me at six months, you married the wrong person, and you just didn’t know.”

The episode highlights Meri’s decision to seek a “release” from her church, a necessary step to formalize their spiritual divorce. Despite their legal marriage ending in 2014 to allow Kody to marry Robyn legally, their spiritual union had remained. “When we marry, it is for eternity. That’s the intention,” stated Meri, describing the release process as “heartbreaking.”

This development follows last week’s episode where Meri revealed her request to the church for a release, ending what she describes as a “limbo” state in her marriage with Kody. “Back in 2014, Kody and I did do a legal divorce, and for me, that whole process was purely for the fact that he could then marry Robyn legally and then adopt her three older kids,” noted Meri.

As “Sister Wives” continues, the dynamics within the Brown family remain a focal point, with ongoing tensions revealed in previews, suggesting Kody’s potentially strained communication with his current wife, Robyn. Viewers of the series can expect these unresolved issues to unfold in upcoming episodes.
