Teresa Earnhardt Seeks Rezoning for Industrial Park in Mooresville
Teresa Earnhardt, the widow of the late NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, has unveiled plans to transform 399 acres of her property in Mooresville, North Carolina into an industrial hub. The proposed site for the “Mooresville Technology Park” is off N.C. 3, also known as the Dale Earnhardt Highway. The rezoning application has been reported by Joe Marusak for The Charlotte Observer, highlighting a significant shift in land use for what was previously a rural and farming area.
The property, located approximately 2.5 miles from Dale Earnhardt Inc., which was the base for the NASCAR icon’s race team, is currently owned by Earnhardt Farms LLC. Teresa Earnhardt, serving as the only managing member of the LLC, intends to formally present her rezoning request at the upcoming Mooresville Planning Board meeting. This meeting, scheduled for October 22, will have the rezoning request listed on its agenda for consideration.
Should the Planning Board recommend approval, the proposal will advance to the Board of Commissioners for final endorsement. The decision to convert the land into an industrial park has surprised some NASCAR fans, who fondly remember Dale Earnhardt’s connection to the land through hunting, fishing, and farming.
