Teresa Giudice Faces $3 Million Tax Liens with Husband Luis Ruelas

RED BANK, N.J. – Teresa Giudice, best known for her role on “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” and her husband, Luis Ruelas, are facing serious financial trouble with over $3 million in tax liens, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.
On March 20, 2025, Giudice was issued a lien for $303,889.20, while Ruelas is responsible for nearly $2.6 million, including an outstanding lien of $163,523.94 from December 2024. The couple’s financial issues come just months after Giudice publicly denied struggling with money.
The tax complications highlight ongoing concerns about the couple’s finances, which have been a recurring theme on the reality series. Giudice, 52, previously served 11 months in prison in 2015 for mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud, while Ruelas, 49, has also faced financial scrutiny linked to his business dealings.
A representative for Giudice did not respond to requests for comment from The U.S. Sun regarding these new tax problems. However, in past interviews, she has claimed awareness of her tax obligations while asserting that she is making timely payments.
“Ms. Giudice has been aware of her tax obligations for years and makes significant timely monthly payments towards her outstanding tax liabilities and will continue to do so until those liabilities do not exist,” attorney James J. Leonard Jr. stated in 2023.
Fans of the couple have expressed mixed reactions on social media in light of this financial news. Many are questioning whether these financial troubles could strain their marriage, especially considering that Giudice and Ruelas did not sign a prenuptial agreement prior to their wedding in August 2022.
During an appearance on Andy Cohen‘s talk show, Giudice stated, “I would [sign a prenup], you know, if he said so. I’m so very easy about that.” Despite the situation, she expresses unwavering support for her husband.
Giudice’s tumultuous past, including her previous legal issues with her ex-husband, Joe Giudice, evoke concerns regarding her decision-making in financial matters. Many have noted the couple’s spending habits and questioned their ability to manage their resources effectively.
In addition to their tax troubles, the couple has faced scrutiny on reality television concerning their relationship stability. Rumors of financial instability were previously discussed in Season 14 of RHONJ, leading some to wonder about the implications for their future together.
Giudice has previously disputed claims about her finances, stating, “Listen, I’ll shout it out to the world. I signed two contracts that Joe was flipping [for] two homes he was buying. That’s all I did. I knew nothing about what he was doing. I mean, I have nothing to hide. Like, I did my time already, you know?”
As the couple grapples with these ongoing financial issues, many fans watch closely to see how they will navigate this latest crisis amid a backdrop of public scrutiny and personal challenges.
