Terrifier 3 Brings Holiday Horror to Theaters Amid Walkouts and Censorship

Terrifier 3 Art The Clown

Terrifier 3,” the latest installment in Damien Leone‘s horror series, has arrived in theaters, prompting reactions of shock and awe from audiences. Known for its gruesome and visceral depictions of horror, the film maintains its reputation with scenes that challenge even seasoned horror enthusiasts. The film’s prologue, depicting a Christmas time massacre orchestrated by Art the Clown, sets the tone for the carnage that ensues.

Damien Leone, who both wrote and directed the film, continues the story of characters Sienna, played by Lauren LeVera, as she attempts to rebuild her life following a previous encounter with Art the Clown. David Howard Thornton reprises his role as the malevolent clown, delivering bone-chilling performances throughout the trilogy.

The film’s reception has been mixed, with reports from its UK premiere indicating that 11 people walked out due to the graphic content. In France, film commission authorities have restricted anyone under 18 from viewing the film. Distributed domestically by Cineverse, “Terrifier 3” comes to theaters without an official rating, further underscoring its controversial content.

For horror aficionados eager to catch the film, it is currently available exclusively in theaters. As with its predecessor “Terrifier 2,” the expectation is that “Terrifier 3” will follow a similar release pattern, potentially becoming available on premium video on demand (PVOD) about five weeks after its theatrical release. This means it could be accessible for digital purchase or rental around mid-November.

Regarding streaming, viewers hoping for a release on major platforms may need to exercise patience. Like its predecessor, “Terrifier 3” is expected to debut on ScreamBox, a horror-themed streaming service owned by Cineverse, which could happen a few weeks post-theater launch. Cineverse’s investment in the film reportedly stands at less than $5 million, including marketing expenses.

The film is projected to perform strongly at the box office, potentially earning $11 million in its debut weekend, which may position it ahead of other box office contenders like the “Joker” sequel.
