Tesla Model 3 Canada Price Increase 2024

TORONTO, CanadaTesla will raise prices for all its vehicles in Canada starting Feb. 1, according to updates posted on its Canadian website. The Model 3 will see the steepest increase, with prices rising by up to C$9,000 ($6,254.78), while Model Y variants will increase by up to C$4,000. The Model S and Model X will also see a C$4,000 price hike across all versions.

The company did not provide a reason for the price adjustments. Tesla does not manufacture vehicles in Canada and imports its cars from factories in the United States and Shanghai, China. It remains unclear how many vehicles Tesla exports to Canada from these facilities.

The price increase comes amid heightened trade tensions between Canada and the U.S. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Tuesday that his government is prepared to respond if U.S. President Donald Trump imposes a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico starting Feb. 1. Additionally, Canada currently imposes a 100% tariff on electric vehicles imported from China, including Tesla vehicles manufactured in Shanghai.

Tesla did not respond to Reuters‘ request for comment outside regular business hours. The unexpected price hike has raised questions about the company’s strategy in the Canadian market, particularly as it faces competition from other electric vehicle manufacturers.

As of now, the price adjustments are set to take effect next month, with no indication of whether they will be revised or reversed. The move could impact Tesla’s market share in Canada, where electric vehicle adoption has been steadily increasing.
