Tesla Launches Affordable Model Y Long Range RWD Trim for $44,990

AUSTIN, Texas — Tesla has introduced the new Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) trim of its Model Y, starting at $44,990, as of May 7, 2025. This latest model is designed to attract buyers seeking a more affordable electric vehicle (EV) option.

The RWD variant offers an estimated range of 357 miles on a full charge, which surpasses the Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD) version’s 327 miles. It also features a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 5.4 seconds. While this performance is slower than the AWD’s 4.6 seconds, the RWD version is priced $4,000 lower, making it an appealing choice for budget-conscious consumers.

Deliveries of the new Model Y Long Range RWD are expected to begin within three to five weeks. This model is part of Tesla’s efforts to reinvigorate sales, which have seen a decline in various markets, particularly Europe and China.
