Winter Storm Southeast Texas Power Outages

HOUSTON, Texas — Energy providers across Southeast Texas are closely monitoring winter weather conditions this week, with concerns mounting over potential power outages as a winter storm approaches the region.

Following the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, CenterPoint Energy has launched a new, cloud-based outage tracker designed to provide real-time updates to customers. The mobile-friendly tool aims to improve communication and transparency during emergencies. “The new outage tracker is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance customer service and ensure timely information during severe weather events,” a CenterPoint spokesperson said.

Entergy Texas and Texas New Mexico Power are also on high alert, tracking the storm’s progression and preparing for possible disruptions. Both companies have urged customers to stay informed through their respective outage tracking systems.

As of Tuesday, January 21, 2025, power providers are reporting scattered outages across the region, with numbers expected to fluctuate as the storm intensifies. A live outage map provided by local news station KTRK-TV shows current outages by county and provider, offering residents a clear view of the situation.

Residents are advised to prepare for potential outages by charging devices, stocking emergency supplies, and avoiding downed power lines. “We are closely monitoring the weather and have crews on standby to respond to any issues,” said an Entergy Texas representative.

This winter storm comes as Southeast Texas continues to recover from Hurricane Beryl, which caused widespread damage and prolonged power outages last year. Energy providers have since implemented new measures to improve grid resilience and customer communication.
