Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery Draw Concludes with Wayanad Ticket Winning Rs 25 Crore
The Thiruvonam Bumper Lottery draw took place in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, where a ticket sold in Wayanad district emerged as the winner of the Rs 25 crore first prize. The winning ticket number is TG434222, as reported by local sources.
The winning ticket was sold by a local agency in Panamaram, Wayanad, and subsequently through an agency in Bathery owned by Nagraj. While celebrating the win, Nagraj mentioned to the media that the identity of the buyer remains unknown due to the ticket being sold a month earlier and his agency’s location near a state border.
The lottery draw also awarded a second prize of Rs 1 crore each to 20 ticket holders. Third prize winners received Rs 50 lakh, while fourth and fifth prize winners were awarded Rs 5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. Additionally, several smaller cash prizes were distributed, including Rs 500 for the final category of winners.
Despite high expectations from an initial surge in sales, the total number of tickets sold fell short of anticipated records. Out of 8 million printed tickets, 7,128,218 were sold in this year’s edition, the total being fewer than the number sold in the previous year.
District-wise, Palakkad led the sales, followed by Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur in ticket distribution. Notably, 9,50,250 tickets were sold in Thiruvananthapuram alone, providing significant sales revenue across the state.
The Onam Bumper Lottery, which first introduced a Rs 25 crore prize in 2022, saw a consistent increase in ticket sales until this year. Organisers had hoped to surpass last year’s sales by approximately one million tickets, yet this expectation remained unmet.
In addition to the Onam Bumper, another lottery event, the Pooja Bumper, was recently launched in Thiruvananthapuram. The Pooja Bumper tickets, priced at Rs 300, offer varied prize categories, including a top prize of Rs 12 crore, to be drawn on December 4. The ceremony was inaugurated by Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal in the presence of MLA V.K. Prasanth.
