Thunderstorm Artis American Idol Performance

LOS ANGELES, California — Hawaii-born Thunderstorm Artis secured his spot in the Top 12 on Sunday night’s episode of “American Idol.” With the help of audience voting, Artis advanced following a competitive live performance featuring songs from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame legends.

During the two-hour broadcast, approximately 19 million votes were cast, ultimately revealing the Top 12 contestants for this season. Artis, along with the other finalists, will perform again on Monday with the goal of moving into the Top 10.

Voting for the Top 12 opened at 2 p.m. Hawaii Time on Monday, April 28, and continues until the last commercial break before 4 p.m. Fans aged 16 and older can cast up to 30 votes using the “American Idol” app or by texting their favorite artist’s number to “21523.”

This week’s performances featured mentorship from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee James Taylor. Contestants sang classics from legendary artists, with Artis performing a unique rendition of Taylor’s “Fire and Rain.” Judges praised him for his ability to make the song his own.

Other Top 12 artists include Filo, Kolbi Jordan, Mattie Pruitt, and Gabby Samone. Fourteen contestants competed for viewer votes, with the episode concluding by eliminating Amanda Barise and Desmond Roberts.

As the competition intensifies, the Top 12 will take the stage on Monday, showcasing their talents in hopes of winning the hearts of America and moving toward the final rounds of “American Idol.”
